Millennials are the most tech-savvy generation and live with and through their mobile devices. Yet, many businesses still fail to optimize their websites for mobile and are potentially alienating a significant customer base.

When Millennials wake up in the morning, the first thing most do is to reach for their phone. Almost 90% say their smartphone never leaves their side. So it should come as no surprise to businesses that, if they want to keep Millennials on their side, they need to make sure their websites are accessible from a mobile device.
However, a survey of Millennials found that a whopping 70% of the companies they want to interact with via a smartphone didn't have a mobile app and even more, 86%, did not have a mobile-friendly website. Furthermore, half of Millennials surveyed said they tried to access a business website at least once each day.
If you are a business that is hoping to attract Millennials, mobile needs to be a priority, particularly with the festive season fast approaching.
A recent survey of Millennials, conducted in Union Square, one of San Francisco's top shopping destinations, by Instart Logic reveals what Millennials want from a mobile shopping experience. The report, 'Feet on the Street', found that most (57%) prefer browser-based shopping on their smartphone over the use of apps (43%). Furthermore, Millennials respond well to visual stimulation and high-quality images but more than two-thirds (68%) would wait no longer than five seconds for a mobile shopping website to load and one in five were even less patient, citing just two seconds.
